Planning a yatra to Trimbakeshwar, Bhimashankar and Grishneshwar? The first question almost every pilgrim asks is how many days the trip actually takes. The short answer: 2 days is the minimum, 3 days is comfortable, and 4 days (3 nights) is ideal if you travel with family or senior citizens.

Quick answer
| Plan | Possible? | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| 1 day | Not practical | Only one Jyotirlinga per day |
| 2 days | Possible, but rushed | Young groups, own vehicle |
| 3 days | Comfortable | Families, couples |
| 4 days / 3 nights | Most relaxed | Senior citizens, children, sightseeing |
Can we cover 3 Jyotirlinga in 1 day?
No. The three temples are in three different regions of Maharashtra, and the total road distance is well over 600 km depending on where you start. Trimbakeshwar is near Nashik, Bhimashankar is in the Sahyadri hills of Pune district, and Grishneshwar is near Ellora in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar. Even with an early start, driving time alone will take most of the day, and queues at temples can add more. In one day, you can realistically visit one Jyotirlinga comfortably, for example Trimbakeshwar as a day trip from Nashik or Bhimashankar from Pune.
How to complete 3 Jyotirlinga in 2 days
A 2-day trip is possible, but it means long drives and short darshan windows.
- Day 1: Start early from Pune, visit Bhimashankar, then drive towards Nashik and stay overnight.
- Day 2: Morning darshan at Trimbakeshwar, then drive to Grishneshwar and return.
Keep in mind the long drives, limited rest, and the risk of missing darshan timings if there is a rush or a delay on the road. If you have elderly parents or kids, we do not recommend this plan.
3 days: the comfortable plan
Three days lets you do darshan without rushing, and add Shirdi on the way.
- Day 1: Pune/Mumbai to Bhimashankar for darshan, then travel to Nashik. Overnight stay.
- Day 2: Trimbakeshwar darshan in the morning, then Shirdi for Sai Baba darshan. Overnight stay at Shirdi or Sambhajinagar.
- Day 3: Grishneshwar darshan and Ellora Caves, then return journey.

Why 4 days / 3 nights works best
Most pilgrims who book a yatra choose 4D/3N because return travel to Pune or Mumbai takes a few hours on the last day, and it leaves room for rest, meals and queues. Our Maharashtra 3 Jyotirlinga tour package follows this 4 days, 3 nights format with AC vehicle, hotel stay and darshan assistance, starting from ₹9,500 per person.
What affects the number of days?
- Starting city: Pune is closest to Bhimashankar, Nashik is closest to Trimbakeshwar. From Mumbai, add extra travel time.
- Season: Monsoon and weekends bring heavy crowds at Bhimashankar and Trimbakeshwar. Allow extra time.
- Group: Senior citizens and children need more breaks.
- Add-ons: Shirdi, Shani Shingnapur and Ellora Caves each add a few hours.
- Special pujas: Rituals at Trimbakeshwar need advance planning.

Tips for planning
- Start early (around 5 to 6 am) on darshan days.
- Check temple timings and any special entry rules before you go.
- Keep a buffer day if travelling in the monsoon.
- Book hotels near the temples in advance during festivals and long weekends.

At least 2 days, but 3 days (or 4D/3N) is recommended for a comfortable yatra.
No, the distances are too long. In one day you can comfortably visit only one.
Start from Pune, visit Bhimashankar and Trimbakeshwar on day 1, and Grishneshwar on day 2. It is a tiring plan, so it suits only fit travellers.
October to February has pleasant weather. Monsoon is scenic but crowded and slippery near Bhimashankar.
