Amarkantak Pachmarhi Bandhavgarh Kanha Jabalpur Tour Package

Amarkantak Pachmarhi Bandhavgarh Kanha Jabalpur Tour Package

Madhya Pradesh is unlike any other destination in India — it is where the sacred and the wild coexist. This Amarkantak Pachmarhi Bandhavgarh Kanha Jabalpur tour package takes you through the spiritual origins of the Narmada River, the misty valleys of Pachmarhi, the dense tiger corridors of Bandhavgarh and Kanha, and the marble gorge of Bhedaghat near Jabalpur. Whether you are a pilgrim, a nature lover, or a wildlife enthusiast, this tour covers Madhya Pradesh in its full depth.

Why Choose This Madhya Pradesh Tour Package

Madhya Pradesh sits at the geographic centre of India, and this tour captures its most defining contrasts. Amarkantak is the sacred source of three rivers — the Narmada, Sone, and Johilla — and holds deep significance for devotees across India. Pachmarhi, the only hill station in Madhya Pradesh, offers ancient rock shelters, waterfalls, and a cool forested landscape. Bandhavgarh and Kanha are among India's most productive tiger reserves, consistently ranking among the top wildlife safari destinations in Asia. Jabalpur rounds off the journey with Bhedaghat's otherworldly Marble Rocks along the Narmada. Together, these five destinations make this one of the most diverse and rewarding Madhya Pradesh tour packages available.

Destinations Covered

Amarkantak — Sacred Source of River Narmada

Amarkantak, situated at an elevation of around 1,048 metres in the Maikal Hills of the Vindhya and Satpura ranges, is considered one of the most sacred pilgrimage sites in central India. The Narmada Udgam temple marks the precise origin of the Narmada River, and the surrounding complex includes the Kapat Dwar, Sarvadharma Ashram, and the ancient Kalchuri-era temples at the Narmada Temple Group. The Sonmuda viewpoint, where the Sone River begins its descent, is another significant spot. Amarkantak is revered equally by Shaivites and Vaishnavites, making it a rare convergence point of devotional traditions.

Pachmarhi — Jewel of the Satpura Range

Pachmarhi is a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve and the highest point in Madhya Pradesh, reaching approximately 1,067 metres. The name is derived from the Pandava Caves — five rock-cut shelters used, according to local legend, by the Pandavas during their exile. Key attractions include Bee Falls, Duchess Falls, Priyadarshini Point, Jatashankar Cave (a natural Shiva shrine), and Chauragarh Temple atop a steep hill. Pachmarhi offers a rare combination of prehistoric significance, religious importance, and natural beauty, making it one of the most complete hill station experiences in central India.

Bandhavgarh National Park — Highest Tiger Density in India

Bandhavgarh National Park in Umaria district is historically recognised for having one of the highest tiger population densities in India. The park spans approximately 716 sq km across core and buffer zones. Apart from tigers, the park is home to leopards, sloth bears, gaur, and over 250 bird species. The ancient Bandhavgarh Fort within the park adds a historical dimension to the wildlife experience. Jeep safaris are conducted across three main zones — Tala, Magdhi, and Khitauli — with morning and evening slots.

Kanha National Park — Inspiration for The Jungle Book

Kanha National Park, spread across approximately 940 sq km in Mandla and Balaghat districts, is often cited as the inspiration behind Rudyard Kipling's The Jungle Book. It is the largest national park in Madhya Pradesh and is credited with saving the barasingha (hard-ground swamp deer) from extinction. Kanha is known for its open meadows — called maidans — which create ideal conditions for wildlife sightings. Jeep and canter safaris operate through Khatia, Mukki, and Sarhi gates. The park is one of the original Project Tiger reserves, established in 1974.

Jabalpur and Bhedaghat — The Marble Canyon of Narmada

Jabalpur serves as the gateway city for Bhedaghat, where the Narmada River flows through a 3-km gorge flanked by towering white marble cliffs. The Dhuandhar Falls, where the river plunges dramatically before entering the gorge, is one of the most photographed natural sites in Madhya Pradesh. Boat rides through the Marble Rocks are available during the day and on full moon nights. Nearby attractions include the Chausath Yogini Temple, an 11th-century circular temple dedicated to 64 Yogini forms, perched on a hill above the river.

Best Time to Visit

October to March is the ideal period for this tour.

Wildlife safaris at Bandhavgarh and Kanha operate from October through June; both parks close during the monsoon (typically July to September) in line with wildlife management guidelines.

Pachmarhi is pleasant year-round but best avoided during heavy monsoon months due to road conditions.

Amarkantak can be visited throughout the year, with Makar Sankranti (Narmada Jayanti) in January drawing the largest pilgrim gatherings.

How to Reach

Jabalpur Airport is the most convenient air entry point for this circuit. Jabalpur is also well connected by rail from Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, and Bhopal. The tour typically starts from Jabalpur or Bhopal, depending on the routing chosen. Amarkantak is approximately 225 km from Jabalpur; Pachmarhi is around 270 km from Jabalpur via Pipariya. Bandhavgarh is 165 km from Jabalpur, and Kanha is approximately 175 km.
