Wildlife safaris in Kanha and Bandhavgarh operate from October 1 to June 30 each year. The parks close during the monsoon (July–September). For temple tours, pilgrimage circuits, and heritage destinations, October to March is ideal.
The three main airports in Madhya Pradesh are Bhopal (Raja Bhoj Airport), Indore (Devi Ahilya Bai Holkar Airport), and Khajuraho (Khajuraho Airport). Bhopal and Indore have direct flights from Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Bangalore, and Chennai. Khajuraho is served from Delhi and Varanasi.
Bhopal, Indore, Jabalpur, Gwalior, Ujjain, and Katni are major railway junctions with frequent Rajdhani, Shatabdi, and Express connections from Delhi, Mumbai, and other metros. Gwalior is about 3 hours from Delhi on the Shatabdi Express.
