Do Dham Yatra from Delhi, this journey not only strengthens one’s faith but also offers a chance to witness the natural beauty of the Himalayas. These two sacred sites carry great spiritual importance and form an essential part of Uttarakhand’s revered Chota Char Dham circuit.

Beginning the Journey from Delhi

Your Do Dham Yatra usually begins in Delhi, where pilgrims set out by road, rail, or air toward Haridwar or Rishikesh. These holy towns serve as the gateway to the Himalayas and provide an excellent starting point for spiritual seekers. From here, the journey continues through winding mountain roads, scenic valleys, and riverbanks, gradually leading toward the shrines. The transition from the bustling capital city to the serene mountains sets the tone for a soulful experience.

Kedarnath – Abode of Lord Shiva

The first destination of theDo Dham Yatra is Kedarnath, located at an altitude of 3,583 meters. Devoted to Lord Shiva, this shrine is one of the 12 Jyotirlingas and is It is believed that the Pandavas constructed the temple to atone for their sins after the Kurukshetra war. Surrounded by snow-capped peaks and nestled beside the Mandakini River, the temple exudes divine energy.

Reaching Kedarnath involves a trek of about 16–18 kilometers from Gaurikund, though helicopter services are also available for those seeking a convenient option. Along the way, pilgrims experience breathtaking Himalayan views, cascading waterfalls, and a deep sense of devotion. The evening aarti at Kedarnath Temple is a sacred ceremony, where divine chants fill the air and the gentle glow of oil lamps envelops the temple in a peaceful, spiritual ambiance.

Badrinath – The Sacred Seat of Lord Vishnu

After Kedarnath, the yatra continues to Badrinath, another significant shrine located at 3,300 meters. Set against the backdrop of the towering Nar and Narayan peaks and resting beside the serene Alaknanda River, Badrinath Temple is a sacred abode dedicated to Lord Vishnu, radiating spiritual grace and timeless devotion. According to legend, Lord Vishnu meditated here, while Goddess Lakshmi provided him shelter in the form of a Badri tree, giving the place its name.

Pilgrims take a holy dip in the Tapt Kund, a natural hot spring, before entering the temple. The colorful façade of Badrinath Temple, along with its spiritual aura, leaves devotees in awe. Apart from the temple, nearby attractions such as Mana Village—the last Indian village near the Indo-Tibetan border—add to the yatra’s charm.
