The Chardham Yatra, one of the most sacred pilgrimages in Hinduism, takes devotees on a journey to four holy shrines nestled in the Himalayas: Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath, and Badrinath. Starting from Rishikesh, the gateway to the Garhwal Himalayas, this Chardham Yatra from Rishikesh is both a spiritual awakening and an unforgettable travel experience.
Rishikesh, located on the banks of the holy Ganga River, serves as the traditional starting point of the Chardham Yatra. From here, pilgrims usually follow the clockwise route: Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath, and Badrinath.
To begin with, the journey leads to Yamunotri, the origin of the sacred Yamuna River. Located at an altitude of 3,293 meters, it requires a trek of about 6 km from Janki Chatti. The main attraction is the Yamunotri Temple, dedicated to Goddess Yamuna. Pilgrims also visit the hot springs at Surya Kund, where they cook rice as an offering to the deity.
After Yamunotri, the next destination is Gangotri, the origin of the Ganga River. Situated at 3,100 meters, Gangotri houses the Gangotri Temple, built in the 18th century. Furthermore, many pilgrims trek to Gomukh, the actual source of the Ganga, located 18 km from Gangotri. The region offers stunning views of snow-capped peaks and spiritual serenity.
Moving forward, the yatra proceeds to Kedarnath, one of the twelve Jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva. This shrine lies at a height of 3,583 meters and involves a challenging trek from Gaurikund (approx. 16 km). The Kedarnath Temple, believed to be built by the Pandavas and revived by Adi Shankaracharya, stands as a symbol of devotion and endurance amid rugged Himalayan terrain.
Lastly, the pilgrimage concludes at Badrinath, dedicated to Lord Vishnu. Located at 3,133 meters, it is the most accessible among the four dhams. Pilgrims also take a dip in the Tapt Kund, a hot spring with healing properties.

Yatra starts from the Rishikesh Railway. We'll receive and take you to Barkot, proceeding towards the Hotel that we Have booked for tonight Pause. Check in and Stay.
After having the morning Meal we’ll go for the first Dham of this Journey Yamunotri firstly reach Hanumanchatti then Jankichatti from where you begin the trek towards Yamunotri Dham (approx 6-8kms) Reach there and do the holy darshan of Yamunotri and return back by following the same way.
Next morning leave Barkot for the next point Uttarkashi drive to reach there and stay after hitting the hotel.
Morning go for Gangotri Darshan by hitting there, take a holy dip and do darshan after that return to Uttarkashi.
Leave Uttarkashi and Drive to Guptkashi check in after reaching and stay at the hotel.
Early morning leave the Hotel for Kedarnath The third Dham of your Yatra first reach Sonprayag and leave the Vehicle here because of some restrictions drive will stop the car at Sonprayag Then reach Gaurikud by walking or by taking The Local Vehicles ht Gaurikund - The Gateway to Kedarnath Dham start the Trek which is 18-19 kms approx from one side. you can arrange the modes from There like - Horse, Doli, Pithu etc which are available for Yatri’s (by own arrangements) and accomplish the Trek after reach there take a Look into The Camps or Guest Houses at Kedarnath Later, attend The evening aarti and stay at the Camps or Guest Houses as Per your booking.

Leave Guptkashi for reaching the next Location Pandukeshwar stay at the Hotel.
In The Morning Drive to Badrinath Darshan take a holy dip into the pond of warm water (Tapt Kund) The water of Tapt Kund is always warm no matter if it is Cold or Summer. Devotees have a dip before Badrivishal Darshan,after the Darshans we’ll go to visit some locations like - Mama, Vasudhara, Bhim Pul and Vyas Gufa and stay at Pipalkoti after all of these.
Departing to Rishikesh by a visit of Ram Jhula and Laxman (at own expense) Jhula.
The ideal time to undertake the Chardham Yatra is from May to October, as the temples are open and the weather is conducive for travel. The temples remain closed during the winter months due to heavy snowfall.

The trek to Kedarnath is 16 km one way and can be physically challenging. However, ponies, palanquins, and helicopter services are available for those who prefer not to trek.
