Northeast India has many faces, and the Mizoram Tripura tour package by Divya Yatra shows you two of its most distinctive ones. On one side is Mizoram — a land of bamboo forests, high waterfalls, and Mizo cultural villages tucked into rolling hills far from the beaten tourist trail. On the other is Tripura — a state of royal heritage, ancient temples, lake palaces, and rock carvings that predate modern history. Together, these two states offer one of the richest and most varied Northeast journeys possible. This package covers both in a single, well-paced tour with complete ILP handling, private transfers, and departures customized to your dates.
Very few Indian travelers have been to either state. Fewer still have seen both together. The Mizoram Tripura combination works particularly well because the two destinations complement each other almost perfectly — Mizoram gives you natural beauty, tribal culture, and quiet hill-town life, while Tripura adds royal history, Hindu heritage, and architectural grandeur. Moving between them via Agartala or Silchar is practical, and the combined experience delivers a depth that a single-state tour simply cannot match.
This twin-state package is ideal for travelers who have already covered Meghalaya, Sikkim, or Assam and want to go deeper into Northeast India. It also works as a standalone Northeast introduction for those who prefer offbeat destinations over the more commercially developed Northeast circuits.
This tour is designed for culture-focused travelers, heritage seekers, and anyone drawn to the road less taken. It suits couples looking for a meaningful holiday away from crowded hill stations, families with older children and senior members who prefer comfort without sacrificing authenticity, retired travelers on longer Northeast circuits, and photography enthusiasts chasing mist-covered hills, ancient rock carvings, and waterfall landscapes.
Mizoram's reputation as one of India's safest states — with a high literacy rate, disciplined communities, and genuine local hospitality — makes it particularly welcoming for women travelers and first-time Northeast visitors. Tripura's compact geography and well-maintained attractions make it easy to cover thoroughly without fatigue.
Aizawl, Mizoram's capital, is the entry point — a hilltop city at over 3,700 feet with panoramic valley views, traditional markets, bamboo craft centres, and the Mizoram State Museum. From Aizawl, the route leads to Thenzawl and Vantawng Falls, the highest waterfall in Mizoram at approximately 229 metres, set inside a deep bamboo valley. Traditional Mizo village visits are a standard part of this leg, offering genuine interaction with close-knit rural communities and insight into a way of life that remains largely unchanged.
Agartala is Tripura's capital and the cultural hub of the tour's second half. The Ujjayanta Palace — now a state museum — stands at the heart of the city alongside the Tripura Sundari Temple and Jagannath Temple. Neermahal, a striking lake palace combining Hindu and Mughal architecture, is roughly 50 km from Agartala and one of Northeast India's most photographed monuments. Unakoti, a UNESCO tentative World Heritage site in north Tripura, contains enormous rock-cut carvings of Shiva and other Hindu deities and is among the most historically significant stops on this entire route.
Mizoram is a protected state and all Indian nationals require an Inner Line Permit to enter. Tripura has no such requirement. Divya Yatra manages the ILP application entirely — travelers provide the required documents and we process the permit well ahead of the travel date. Foreign nationals also require a permit and we assist with that process as well.
Most travelers fly into Aizawl via Lengpui Airport, typically connecting through Kolkata or Guwahati.
The Mizoram leg is completed first, followed by a short flight or road transfer to Agartala via MBB Airport.
Travelers from Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, and other metros can reach both cities with one connection.
For those combining this with a longer Northeast circuit via Manipur, Assam, or Meghalaya, road transitions via Silchar are also available.
October to March is the recommended window for this tour.
Weather across both states is cool, dry, and ideal for outdoor sightseeing.
The Vantawng Falls visit in Mizoram and the Unakoti carvings in Tripura are both best experienced in clear conditions.
Monsoon (June to September) brings heavy rainfall that disrupts road travel in Mizoram and limits access to several Tripura sites.
The standard Mizoram Tripura package runs for 7 to 9 nights, allowing comfortable coverage of both states.
It can be extended to a 10 to 14-day Northeast circuit by adding Manipur, Meghalaya, or Assam.
All departures are private — no group buses, no fixed batch dates.
Group size, departure city, accommodation preferences, and travel dates are fully customizable.
Divya Yatra has a proven track record across Northeast India with active operations in Mizoram, Manipur, Meghalaya, Nagaland, and Tripura.
