Northeast India has a way of surprising even the most well-travelled. It is a region where Buddhist monasteries sit above the clouds, rivers run so clear they look like glass, national parks hold some of Asia's rarest wildlife, and the air smells of pine and rain and something entirely its own. The Tawang Assam Shillong Tour Package by Divya Yatra brings together the very best of Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, and Meghalaya in a single, seamlessly managed journey. This is not the Northeast you have read about in passing — this is the Northeast experienced the right way, at the right pace, with every detail taken care of.
What sets this package apart is the scope of it. Most Northeast India tours stick to one state or one region. This tour covers three distinct states, each with its own landscape, culture, and character, connected through a route that flows naturally without unnecessary backtracking or wasted travel days.
Arunachal Pradesh takes you into high-altitude Himalayan terrain — mountain passes, border villages, ancient monasteries, and frozen lakes that sit above 12,000 feet. Assam grounds you in the lush river plains of the Brahmaputra — wildlife parks, river islands, and temple towns that carry centuries of devotion. Meghalaya lifts you into the clouds — waterfalls that drop off cliff edges, caves carved by underground rivers, transparent river crossings, and forests where bridges are grown rather than built. Three states, three completely different moods, one tour that holds them all together.
When you book this package with Divya Yatra, you are not just buying a list of destinations. You are getting a journey that has been thought through from the first day to the last. Permits for Arunachal Pradesh are arranged before you travel. Transport across all three states is managed with experienced drivers who know these mountain roads well. Stays are selected for comfort, location, and value. Sightseeing is paced so you have time to actually experience each place rather than rushing through it.
Our ground teams in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, and Meghalaya work with us consistently, which means you benefit from local knowledge, smoother logistics, and the kind of on-the-ground support that independent travel simply cannot guarantee in a region this remote.
This tour has been booked by a wide range of travellers and works well for most of them. Families with children enjoy the variety — wildlife, mountains, waterfalls, and boat rides keep every age group engaged. Couples find the scenic drives, quiet hill town evenings, and riverside moments genuinely romantic. Senior travellers appreciate the managed logistics and the fact that they never have to figure out the next step on their own. Friend groups and office trip planners value the offbeat credentials of a destination that most of their social circles have not yet visited.
The one consideration worth flagging is altitude. Tawang sits above 10,000 feet and the route to it crosses Sela Pass at 13,700 feet. Travellers with heart conditions or respiratory issues should get medical clearance before booking. For everyone else, the acclimatisation built into the schedule handles the adjustment comfortably.
October and November are peak season for this route and for good reason. The monsoon has cleared, mountain roads are fully open, Kaziranga National Park is accessible, and the light across both the Himalayas and the Meghalaya plateau is extraordinary. March to June is equally strong — spring brings colour to the hillsides and temperatures are comfortable across all three states.
December to February is the window for snowfall in Tawang. Some travellers specifically plan for it. Road conditions can vary and Sela Pass occasionally closes briefly, but winter Tawang has a quality all its own. July to September is the monsoon and generally not recommended for this route — Kaziranga closes and mountain roads become unpredictable.
The standard package runs 12 to 14 nights, but Divya Yatra does not believe in fixed templates. If you have more time and want to add Ziro Valley, Dirang, or a Brahmaputra river cruise, we can build that in. If your group is large and needs dedicated transport and accommodations, we plan around that. If your dates are tight and you need a tighter version of the tour, we restructure accordingly. Private departures are available year-round and group departure slots are scheduled across the travel season.
Northeast India does not stay undiscovered forever. More travellers are finding it every season, and the best departure slots fill ahead of time. If this journey has been in the back of your mind, now is the time to move it to the front. Reach out to Divya Yatra for a custom quote, detailed day-by-day plan, or any questions about the tour. We will put together an itinerary that fits your group, your dates, and your idea of a perfect trip.
October to November and March to June are ideal. Roads are open, weather is stable, and Kaziranga is accessible during these windows.
